Update:
Patching preperation for the Schoolbox Self-Hosted service is complete, and the patch is actively deploying to all Self-Hosted instances. This is anticipated to be complete by 5:45am AEDT.
Patching preperation for the Schoolbox Hosted service is ongoing, and will begin rolling out shortly.

Update: Further information has become available relating to issue two, allowing some initial mitigations to be put in place. These will be rolled out this evening. As part of these mitigations, file and image uploads will be unavailable in Schoolbox until a full patch is deployed overnight.

The Schoolbox Team continually works to monitor and improve the security of all Schoolbox environments, as well as respond to security related concerns within the context of the Schoolbox application and the platform and dependencies upon which it runs.
This morning information relating to two security vulnerabilities has been made available:
1. A number of eMudhra intermediate authority certificates have been compromised, resulting in any SSL certificates linked to this authority's intermediate certificate no longer being trustworthy and revoked by browsers from being accepted.
2. It has been announced a critical security vulnerability in PHP (the coding language Schoolbox is written in) will be published at 1am Melbourne time tomorrow morning.
In response, the Schoolbox team will assess the vulnerability overnight as soon as details are released. If required, we will promptly update all Schoolbox Hosted and Self-Hosted instances, along with supporting systems, once the PHP Foundation publishes updated packages and container base images addressing issue two, and will apply the fix for issue one as part of the same update.
We currently do not anticipate these updates will cause any significant service disruptions, however customers may notice a few minutes of downtime as updated packages are installed/applied, and impacted services restarted.
